3-Day Gorilla Trekking Experience in Uganda

This gorilla tracking safari is the most sought-after bucket list of experiences, trekking Uganda’s mountain gorillas in the wild. This is one of the most unforgettable wildlife encounters in the world! Trekking may take anywhere between 1 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the family.

Day 1

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

The company driver picks you up from your hotel and drives to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This is a long drive of approximately 8 hours, with a lunch stopover en route. Even though the drive is long, you'll go through different landscapes, including tropical rainforests, savannah fields, and the terraced hills of Kigezi, famously known as the Switzerland of East Africa. Arrival is late in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight at Gorilla Mist Camp.

Note: There is the option of a flight from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. (The flight usually takes about 1 hour from Entebbe to Bwindi.)

Day 2

Gorilla tracking experience

After an early morning breakfast and with your picnic lunch, we then take a short drive to the park offices for a briefing, where we meet the excellent local guides and trackers who give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. We then hike into the forest to a spot where gorillas were seen the previous night and track from there. The terrain is rough and muddy, calling for physical fitness.
Although the hike is physically demanding, the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trek worthwhile.

It is recommended that you take plenty of water with you on the trek. Cameras and plenty of fast-speed films are recommended. Being a tropical rain forest, it may rain at no notice; hence, you need to bring with you waterproof clothing, including zip-lock bags for cameras and film. Others to come include sturdy hiking boots, long pants, gloves, and a raincoat. The maximum time spent with the gorillas is 1 hour. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Mist Camp

Day 3

Transfer back to Kampala

After breakfast, start on the long drive back to Entebbe / Kampala with the memory of the great, rare mountain apes. Lunch en route and a stopover at the equator line and Igongo Cultural Centre, arriving late in the evening at Entebbe International Airport.
